Permissions: You need the Billing permission to change a claim's payers.
If a patient's payers get changed after a claim has been created, you may need to manually change the payers on the claim. For example, you may need to do this if a patient qualified for Medicaid and the coverage was backdated to a previous claim.
- Open the claim you want to change the payers for.
- In the upper right, click the Change Payers button.
- To change the payers associated with each instance of the claim, you can:
- Click the remove icon to remove a payer.
- In a blank field, search for and select a payer to link it to the claim.
- Click the Change Payers button to save the changes.
The payers associated with the claim will be updated, but the claim's information will not automatically change. You can refresh the claim to update it with the new payer's information.
