Permissions: You need the Billing permission to edit a billing account.
When all of a patient's charges should be paid by another billing account, you can set up the patient's account to automatically redirect future charges to that other account. For example, if you have a patient whose charges are covered by a school, you can redirect the patient's account to the school's non-patient billing account.
If you want to move specific charges to another billing account, you can transfer a line instead.
To set up a billing account to redirect charges:
- Go to Billing > Accounts > Billing Accounts.
- Click the billing account you want to redirect charges from.
- In the lower right, click the Edit Account button.
- Search for and select the billing account you want to redirect the charges to, and click the Save Billing Account button.
Since this will only affect future charges, you may want to transfer existing lines manually to the redirected account.
